Hey guys, I'm Kai, I'm a 19 year old guy from Vancouver, Canada, and the founder of Kayoz. Fashion and Anime have always been my thing. I work on Kayoz full-time, and when I'm not doing that, I'm usually hanging out with my friends or my girlfriend, watching anime, reading manga, hitting the gym, climbing, and some gaming. My journey into fashion started back in high school, and it’s been an interesting time lmao.
In high school, I always believed I’d have my own clothing brand someday. Fashion was my way of expressing myself and feeling a bit edgy. I loved anime and manga, but I kept it on the down low because people thought it was weird and cringey. But I still made an effort to experiment with fashion and I eventually found my favorite style in edgy streetwear. Every time I hit the mall with my friends, I’d see anime clothes in stores like Hot Topic or Zumiez, and I'd almost cringe to death. My boy Naruto was just slapped on a random shirt black and orange tie-dye shirt. Seeing people wear that stuff at school made me cringe—it looked so goofy. Like some of the stuff people would wear actually blew my mind.
Throughout high school, I watched a ton of anime. Even after graduation, I'd never miss an episode of Boruto on Sundays. I always thought Boruto’s Karma seal was so sick. I even imagined getting a Karma tattoo on my arm, but I saw photos of people who did it on pinterest and I did not look good lol. Here is what that looks like. Hopefully you can understand why I didn't get this haha.
So, I turned to my other love: fashion. I figured if these stores couldn’t make anime clothes that looked good, I would have to do it myself. My first design was a Boruto-inspired Karma seal on a vintage windbreaker, my favorite type of jacket. It was a hit and marked the start of Kayoz. Since then, I’ve been running Kayoz for over a year. It’s been a non-stop learning experience, diving deeper into fashion, anime, and the ins and outs of running a business. My goal is to create super premium anime streetwear that fans can wear proudly—pieces that combine high quality with edgy designs.
